The Government is providing support to growers, farmers, and businesses affected by severe weather events in the North Island. They are offering financial assistance by underwriting bank loans and providing cheaper finance options to ensure the long-term survival of critical regional industries. The North Island Weather Events (NIWE) Loan Guarantee Scheme includes an 80 percent Crown guarantee on loans, allowing banks to lower interest rates and offer flexible terms. The scheme covers new and refinanced lending, applies to new and existing customers, and sets borrowing limits.
