A message from the Cyber Smarts Week team - brought to you by CERT NZ

Join our ‘Protect it’ campaign and help business owners keep their websites safe and secure.

Tēnā koutou

Business websites are not only enormously important to the businesses themselves, they also contain data and information that is valuable to cyber attackers.

The ‘Protect it’ campaign is an opportunity for you to encourage business owners in your network to take steps to protect their websites, and safeguard their customers’ payments and information. The campaign offers practical steps businesses can take to keep their websites safe and secure.

The campaign is being run online and on TV, with all things digital launching on Wednesday 15 July, and the TV component beginning on Sunday 19 July. The campaign messages will be delivered to a large TV audience in the prime time ‘Good to Know’ segments. You might be familiar with these – they appear during, or immediately after, 1 News. The segments will be fronted by well-known television presenter Stacey Morrison.

Both the online and TV streams of the campaign will run until the end of August.

So, how to participate. There’s no official on-boarding process to become a ‘Protect it’ partner – you're welcome to participate in any way you like. We’ll send another newsletter with a link to the ‘Protect it’ campaign partner page as soon as it’s live on Monday 13 July. From there, you’ll be able to access a range of free digital resources, such as:

  • Editorial content with ‘Protect it’ banner – for your newsletter or website
  • Social media guide – including posts you can use on your social media channels
  • Social media static tiles – to enhance your posts
  • Social media animated gif – to truly liven up your posts
  • Email banners – to help you spread the campaign messages among your contacts
  • Web tiles – to drum up interest in the campaign among visitors to your website

The campaign is being run alongside Consumer Protection’s ‘Check it’ campaign, which provides steps consumers can take to stay safe and secure when shopping online. You’ll also have access to their resources on our campaign partner page, to distribute to any consumer networks you can tap in to.

We’re excited about the campaign and keen to have you on board.
